One of the most unique bands of the last decade pays tribute to another one of the most unique bands of the last decade. Unsurprisingly, since the bond between URFAUST and The Devil’s Blood has always been extremely tight. And - just as little a surprise - IX and VRDRBR do their homage in the only appropriate way: The URFAUST way. The Dutch duo turns the classic „Voodoo Dust into a 7-minute, meditative mantra sounding undeniably URFAUSTesque while at the same time maintaining the essence of the original. „ Kalabhairava“ on the B-side is an ambient soundscape (another typical URFAUST scope in recent times) featuring eerie, ghost-like vocals by Farida Lemouchi. Then, while the musical content of this EP is just as unconventional and hard-to-grasp as Selim’s character and body of work, Ván Records have absolutely outdone themselves with the presentation of „Voodoo Dust“. The (sold out) lavish edition is so ridiculously opulent with its HEAVY 12“ cardboard gatefold, metal sigil on the front cover, amber vinyl and golden print that holding it in your hands is just as rewarding as listening to it. Everything here, from the original composition of the title track to the musical execution and the design of the record is the work of maniacs or in other words: A supreme piece of art you can not miss.
