For several days now, I can’t get the highly infectious chorus of „Hero“, the title track from BÖLZER’s phenomenal debut album out of my head. The good thing is: I don’t even want to. The iconic riff of this monster of a song even lets the Swiss duo get away with the otherwise unforgivable „Fire - Desire - Higher“ rhyme. Fuck it, it’s just too awesome. And the rest of the record is not a bit weaker. KzR’s guitar sings songs of untamed strength that wouldn’t even need words to convey their message of will, determination and hunger. With a significantly broadened, more diverse and transparent sound than on their already stellar EP’s, it seems like BÖLZER only begin to tap their full potential on „Hero“ without falling into the trap of polishing or compromising their art in any way. Above scene conventions or clichés, „Hero“ stands muscular and proud, the passion of KzR and HzR forms the beating heart at the core of a creation that is much greater than the sum of its parts. Every song is a hymn to the wild and pure, every second is an adventure that can’t leave anyone with a living soul unaffected. „Hero“ is a future classic without any doubt and a strong contender for record of the year 2016. Needless to say that Iron Bonehead present this masterpiece in the most appropriate manner. Raise your fist for BÖLZER!
