The first day of christmas 2015 saw the release of DEGIAL’s sophomore full length „Savage Mutiny“ - and what a present it is! The Swedish entity couldn’t have chosen a more appropriate title for their newest effort. What remains after the first few listens is the overall aura of blind rage, possession and a general barbaric attitude unmatched by most bands in the Black and Death Metal spectrum. The dirty but razor-sharp production helps just as much as the really unsettling band photos (including the already-cvlt hangmen picture) to create a listening experience as captivating as few records manage to do. The pure violence of the tunes will split your head like a rusty axe while the underlying feel of something evil, unspoken of hidden in the depths of the often twisted riffs and sick harmonies will haunt your dreams. What really makes „Savage Mutiny“ worth your time and money though is DEGIAL’s ability to write recognizable and catchy songs, and so amidst all the carnage and bludgeoning you will probably find yourself raising your fists and screaming your lungs out to these eight hymns of death and decay on the second listen. Come, oppressive fires. Call on the fall of damnation’s hammers!
